Selling domain names can be a good business. Especially if the domain names for sale are supporting multimillion-dollar businesses already. Dictionary.com was recently purchased for $ 100 million and business.com sold for $ 345 million in the beginning of August to American R.H Donnelley, the yellow pages and local search company. Back in 1999 business.com was purchased for $ 7,5 million which at that time was considered to be an extraordinary sum of money for a domain name.
Some of the most expensive domain names for sale now are websites that are not active but still attract a considerable amount of traffic through pay-per-click. This was the case with porn.com and sex.com was bought for respectively $ 9,5 million and $ 12 million.
Pharmacy.com is also up for sale and is predicted to sell for between $ 5-50 million.
We will follow the development of the price and follow up on the story in the future edition of the newsletter.
