Danish domain registrars have joined forces Printer-friendly »

A new Registry Operator for .DK is being sought after these days. The Danish Government and IT & Telestyrelsen have decided to take responsibility for how the Danish TLD should be managed and put forward a number of clear requirements for the prospective new Registry operator.

Danish domain registrars have joined forces in a new association named DKregistrar. The idea of having an association has been there for a while, but the recent RFP for the .DK registry contributed to give new life to it. The new association will among other things try to raise the business morale by creating a code of conduct for domain businesses.

Ascio’s Product Manager  Francesco Cetraro says : “We believe the Danish Registrar community needs to stand together to make its voice heard and promote better access, more openness and more competition in the Danish Internet market. We think we can definitely make an important contribution to the decision making process, providing first-hand information on the domain market in Denmark and advice on what it takes to make it bloom. We are obviously very interested in discussing the plans for the future of .dk that both Registry Operator candidates have and provide feedback on the proposals on the table.”

The Dkregistrar association was set-up April 17 at Ascio HQ in Copenhagen. The committee consist of representatives from Ascio, GratisDNS, Surftown, jth.net, Nordreg, Gigahost and Melbourne IT.
