The ICANN Board recently approved some important policy changes for the .PRO gTLD, greatly simplifying the registration process and making .PRO both easier to obtain and more desirable. Previously, stringent guidelines limited the availability of second level .PRO domains and resulted in registrants opting for the easier to obtain third level domains.

.PRO will be available to a larger group of professionals
The .PRO gTLD is the first gTLD reserved exclusively for certified professionals and professional companies and associations. Previously it was restricted to include only lawyers, accountants, medical professionals and engineers in the United States, Districts of Columbia, Canada, Germany and United Kingdom.

With the recent policy changes  .PRO will soon be available to professionals within legal, accounting, medical, engineering, architecture, business, chiropractic, dentistry, education, nursing, pharmacy, religions ministry and veterinary anywhere in the world. These changes in the policy significantly broaden the market for the .PRO domain while still maintaining its exclusivity and appeal.
