Ben AndersonBen Anderson, Ascio’s Head of New gTLD Services, elected to the Board of the ICANN Registrar Stakeholder Group. The Registrar Stakeholder Group is one of several Stakeholder Groups within the ICANN community and is the representative body of domain name Registrars.

It is a diverse and active group that works to ensure the interests of Registrars and their customers are effectively advanced.

What is the Registrar Stakeholder Group and what does it do?

The Registrar Stakeholder Group is the main representative body of ICANN accredited domain name registrars, and was first recognized by the ICANN Board at its meeting on 27 May 1999 (resolution 99.31).

The group participates in the ICANN policy making process and serves as the voice of registrars within the ICANN process.

How does the Registrar Stakeholder Group fit in with ICANN and other groups?

The Registrar Stakeholder Group is part of the Generic Names Support Organization (GNSO), which is the main policymaking body within ICANN.

The Registrar Stakeholder Group elect three representatives to the GNSO council who are tasked with putting forward the registrars’ points of view and with voting on policy matters, plus one individual to serve on the Nominating Committee.
